nursing history. Open Thursdays
only. Bergtheil MuseumThe 19th century farmhouse, a national monument,
contains an interesting collection of
photographs, documents and artifacts relating to the 1848
German settlers. Hours:
Mon - Fri 8:00am to 1:00pm ,2:00pm to 5:00pm . Biological Conservation Centre(University of Natal)These are the teaching collections of the biology
department. Durban Cultural Centre/ Durban Cultural & Documentation CentreDocuments the history of the Indian community. Includes
information about indentured
Indians and Gandhi in South Africa, and has displays of
cultural artifacts, paintings,
culinary art, traditional clothing and jewellery. Groups
of
10 or more to call in

registered tourism establishment Geology Display Centre, UndThe museum has rock , mineral and fossil items from
South Africa Killie Campbell MuseumThe William Campbell picture collection contains one
of South Africa's finest
collections of work by black South African artists such
as
Jabulani Ntuli, Gerard
Benghu and Dsmt Mnguni. The collection also includes 250
paintings by Barbara Tyrell,
depicting Zulu social life and customs. The museum is
still
furnished much as it was when
the Campbell family was still there. Viewing by
appointment
only.
Kwa Muhle MuseumOnce the office of the notorious department of native
affairs. Displays mainly show the
oppressive administration of the black population of
Durban
during the twentieth
century.
Maritime MuseumBuilt on a small tugboat, in Durban s small craft
harbour. The museum has several old
ships on display including a World War 11 minesweeper (
SAS
Durban) , a steam tug ( the
I.R. Moore) and a pilot boat (the Ulundi). Hours:Mon -
Sat
8: 30am- 4:00pm, Sun 11:00am -
