Dine aboard whilst cruising the busiest port in Africa with over 20 ocean going ship movements each day. There are also mangrove swamps in a protected conservation habitat, with an abundance of wildlife including pelicans. You will cruise the waters of Durban harbour along the Maydon Channel(one time landing strip for the UK Royal mail flying boats), up the Slit Canal past the mangrove swamps returning through the largest container terminal in Africa, turning at the harbour entrance within sight of the Indian Ocean. The Allen Gardiner is a 20 metre wooden-built World War 2 historic vessel, weighing over 7- tons gross register, so with a maximum of 25 passengers aboard there is plenty of space both on deck and in the teak - decked dining saloon. You can join the captain in the wheelhouse, as he provides an informative commentary about the harbour, shipping, wildlife and the fascinating history of Port Natal.
