Aboobaker Mansions

Aboobaker Jhaveri was the first Indian trader to set up a business in Durban. The first shop was established in 1872. It was Aboobaker Jhaveri who brought Mahatma Gandhi to South Africa in 1893 to handle a court case.

The building is a large Edwardian bus shed significant for its prominent visual role along Alice Street; it embraces an interpretation of the free style in red brick and is known for its gables and for large-span structural steel girders.

Atherton

This is a significant Edwardian two-storied villa in vernacular style with noteworthy details such as fascias, gateposts and gates. It was built in 1903 and was declared a national monument in February 1991.

This is a two storied residential/commercial building with balconies and colonnades in Indian vernacular style of the union period.

Bat Centre

Established in 1995, the Bat Centre is Durban's largest and most innovative community arts centre. Administrated by the Bartel arts trust. A charitable trust established by the late Hugo Bartel, the centre supports the development of a vibrant artistic practice; which celebrates KwaZulu-Natal's rich cultural diversity. Bat Centre aims to build respect, for local artists and their role in society and provides the public with access to a range of arts-related activities and the opportunity to meet local artists a face to face. Workshops and dance, art, music and writing classes are held here on a regular basis.

Bellaire Railway Station

The old station was built from 1876-78, as one of the first five stations built by the Natal government railways. The present station was built in 1900. It was declared a national monument in October 1989.
